Fire protection in old buildings and historic town centres

Publication Year

1992

Document Status

Abstract

Old town centres, with their many historic buildings, are landmarks in the history of architecture and cultural tradition. They are also particularly susceptible to fire, because of the nature of construction of the buildings, their close proximity to each other and, often, particular characteristics of old town sites. This book shows how the special dangers of fire in such situations need careful analysis and describes practical measures which are appropriate to meet the dangers.
