Abstract

Fastener Technology is the know-how behind Design, Manufacture and Application of Fasteners and generally a Fasteners is regarded as a threaded part used for joining or fixing components or materials together. There are also, of course, unthreaded fasteners such as nails, fixing pins, panel pins, dowels, and so on. In considering Design, shape is the first concerned, and in most cases the head of the fastening is the only visible part, when it is applied. Apart from possessing a certain aesthetic appeal a head must also be functional. There must be some means of driving, or rotating it, or some means of preventing rotation if a threaded nut is to be the means of tightening.
