Abstract

Describes a programme of long-term real time research looking at the performance of intumescent materials in an activated state which started in 1984. The test was carried out on door sealing strips. Relates the characteristics of the materials involved, the objectives of the programme, and the findings. Identifies materials not used in the ageing programme and draws conclusions.
