Abstract

Aimed at policy makers involved with waterway projects. Focuses on three key areas, the role of the planning system, how to create successful projects, and how to deliver successful projects. Looks at maximising the economic, social and environmental contribution to urban and rural areas. Introduces the origins and characteristics of waterways and the challenges faced in realising their potential. Examines how they can contribute to sustainable development, urban and rural regeneration, and quality design. Provides practical advice and guidance on how visions can be realised through the planning system and considers the processes involved in implementing waterway projects.
