Abstract

Strives to understand what constitutes a sustainable city, even when debate shows wide differences in even defining one. It is the result of a symposium entitled Energy and Urban Strategies, held in 1999, the aim of which was to develop ideas about creating better cities in environmental, social and economic terms. What is clear is that sustainability is not a fixed term. It can mean different things to different people.
