Abstract

Reducing traffic speeds and securing environmental improvements, particularly within urban residential areas and villages, would probably be agreed by most communities as the highest priority for action by their local Highway Authority. This book, drawing together practical experience from throughout the United Kingdom, is intended to broaden experience and understanding of traffic calming practice and to ensure that we continually improve the quality of both schemes and the procedures for their introduction.
