Code of practice for the construction of buildings: insurers' rules for the fire protection of industrial and commercial buildings
Developed to set a level of fire protection to meet insurers standards. This code is particularly applicable to new industrial and commercial buildings.
Loss Prevention Council
Formed from a merger of the Fire Offices Committee, the Fire Insurers Research and Testing Organisation and the Insurers Technical Bureau in 1984, the Loss Prevention Council (LPC) later went on to develop a certification body, the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), itself taken over by BRE Certification in April 2000. Other LPC documents are now available from the Fire Protection Association.
