Abstract
To some extent, all partitions assist to contain the effects of fire but, when correctly specified and installed, a partition will contribute substantially to the safety of the building occupants. Many “fire-rated” partitions are incorrectly specified and are incorrectly installed. This document will assist in establishing some of the important factors related to the testing of fire-rated partitions.
