Abstract

Identifies the equipment and skills required for undertaking domestic and commercial building condition surveys. Highlights the critical defects to look out for, and provides an overview of how and what (services, environments, elements) to inspect. Encompasses stages throughout the process: taking instructions, agreeing terms of engagement, condition ratings, use of the term ‘technical due diligence’ and writing reports. Also addresses tools, specialist help, and new techniques for further investigation including thermography, endoscopy and ground radar. Updated to reflect the latest RICS regulations, legislation and guidance on building surveying.
