Abstract
Explains how those with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) experience the natural and man-made environment around them, looking at how architecture and interior spaces can be designed to positively influence these individuals. Discusses the range of ASDs, and covers human-environment interaction; perception, cognition and sensation; designing for the senses - sight, auditory, touch/tactile, proprioceptive and vestibular senses; design considerations for ASD and designing realistic environments including learning, home, work, therapeutic and outdoor environments.
