JCT Major Project Contract (MP) MP JCT major project construction contract. Revision 2 2009

Publication Year

2009

Document Status

Withdrawn

Abstract

Appropriate for major works where the employer regularly procures large-scale construction work and the contractor to be appointed is experienced and able to take greater risk than would arise under other JCT contracts, where the parties have their own detailed procedures and where limited procedures only need be set out in the contract conditions, where the employer has prepared his requirements and provided these to the contractor; where the contractor is not only to carry out and complete the works but also to complete the design, and the employer employs a representative to exercise the powers and functions of the employer under the contract.

Document History

JCT 2005 Contracts should not be used for construction contracts entered into after 1 October 2011. Updates Revision 1 2007. The principal revision is the incorporation of sustainability provisions, following JCT’s consultation, and provisions building on OGC’s Achieving Excellence criteria. Aspects of the payment provisions have been modified while awaiting the outcome of the proposed payment legislation.
