Abstract

Describes how the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation (WIMD) 2008 was constructed. The deprivation domains which were used are listed, together with the indicators within each domain, and the geographical units used are specified. Also explains the statistical algorithms used to construct the index from these components.
