Our latest research is about construction product information, which we have not researched for several years. We have always been keen to monitor trends in information formats that specifiers find most useful: particularly the trend towards digital forms of data. This is covered in this research, but there are bigger themes underlying this, which have taken on particular significance in the past few years: namely, building safety and environmental sustainability.

This is the latest in our quarterly updating programme for Uniclass. It includes updates to eight tables, and the first publication of two new tables, Materials and Properties & characteristics.

We've made a full set of sample specifications available to download in both Uniclass and CAWS (Common Arrangement of Work Sections) format.

As we reflect on the past year, here’s a round-up of some of the key moments of 2022. 

The launch of the new USMS library allows specifiers to develop specifications in the NBS Chorus software platform that they are familiar with, but using the content set required for international projects. 

Concrete is the most widely used manufactured material in construction, found in everything from kerbs to dams, roads to pipes, buildings to bridges and even in ornamental building fixtures. While manufacturing processes remain problematic due to the significant CO2 contribution levels, concrete’s longevity, durability, thermal mass and compression strength make it an attractive building material.

We recently hosted a webinar about how NBS Chorus can be used by small practices. It featured Peter Wray, an architect based in Wales who uses NBS Chorus for Small Works which has a tailored content set designed for smaller projects.
