This is the latest in our quarterly updating programme for Uniclass. It includes updates to nine tables, and is predominantly for the addition of new classifications and corrections to existing classifications.
Understand how a digital plan of work that follows the RIBA Plan of Work can be produced. Links are provided to RIBA resources, providing guidance and a Microsoft Excel template ‘Toolbox’.
Specification is a process which develops throughout the project timeline. This article examines specification development from outline to descriptive requirements and into prescriptive solutions, in the context of information management processes.
As part of the 2014/ 15 Innovate UK-funded BIM Toolkit project, NBS worked with BDP and Mott MacDonald to produce a set of indicative ‘level of detail (LOD) guides’. These are now available as a set of downloads. This article discusses the guides in the context of current information management processes.
NBS has released a collaborative five-part guide, with input from members of the NBS technical and information teams and other sustainability champions. Customers will be able to reference the guides and find what they need to aid in their sustainable specification efforts.

Classification of ‘things’ is an integral part in the successful delivery of interoperable data, allowing information to be organised and easily retrieved. To support the industry in assigning classification, NBS and the Government Industry Interoperability Group have undertaken an alignment exercise between Uniclass and IFC, removing the need to work through a manual decision process and improving consistent selection within the industry.
